John B Keane’s timeless classic, Big Maggie, will be the headline opener of Athlone Little Theatre’s new season for 2009/2010. The news was revealed at the group’s AGM for the coming year, at which chairman Paddy Martin outlined a series of exciting new plans, including a theatre outreach programme, which will see the group bringing small plays and comedy sketches out into various venues around the town.

Rehearsals are well advanced for the Athlone Little Theatre production of Big Maggie, one of John B Keane’s most popular plays. Paddy Martin has assembled a sterling cast for this show, which runs at the Little Theatre from November 1 to 7. His direction is particularly well rewarded with the work of stalwart Anne Hoey who plays Maggie, thundering out her words with precision and ease.
